1.Cleaning of handrail belt
The escalator or moving walkway handrail is dirty and affects the appearance, which can be handled as follows:
Dip a clean cloth in dishwashing detergent (be careful not to use dishwasher cleaners!). Then scrub the surface of the handrail vigorously. If the handrail is dirty, you can wipe it several times. Finally, clean it with a dry rag. The surface of the handrail will return to its original luster.
Fat-dissolving agents, gasoline, and solvents containing gasoline-based solvents are forbidden, because this type of cleaner will prematurely age rubber and greatly shorten the service life of handrails. In addition, detergents used in dishwashers or washing machines are generally more aggressive than detergents used in dishwashing and should not be used.
The rubber handrail (black) with the above recommended cleaning agents can only be washed once a month, and should not be washed multiple times. If you use water, you can clean it as often as needed. Handrails made of synthetic materials are less susceptible to cleaning agents than rubber handrails, so they can often be scrubbed with the recommended cleaners.
2.Maintenance of handrails
Rubber handrail (black). If the surface of the handrail is dark and dull, it is recommended to use a rubber polish (a cleaning emulsion for rubber flooring), apply the polish to the surface, and dry it with a dry cloth. The black gloss forms a protective layer on the surface to prevent rubber aging.
Synthetic handrail (black). There are no special requirements, as long as you scrub frequently.
3.Cleaning of synthetic material parts
Components such as comb plates and yellow inserts on steps of escalators or moving walkways are made of synthetic materials. These parts are susceptible to contaminants and other environmental conditions during use and maintenance and repair.
(1) Comb plate (yellow or gray).
(2) Yellow inserts (strips) on the rung.
These parts can be cleaned with a mild detergent and soap solution. It is forbidden to use all other types of cleaning agents, because other types of cleaning agents have a corrosive effect on synthetic materials in certain specific environments, which affects or even prevents the safe operation of escalators or moving walks.
As soon as synthetic parts are contaminated with oil or other lubricants during maintenance, they must be cleaned immediately with the cleaning agents mentioned above.
The above process is necessary because the lubricant and its additives can corrode it in a short time as soon as it comes into contact with the synthetic material.
Corroded synthetic materials have the following characteristics:
① The surface is cracked; ② Discoloration (the surface of the corroded material is often shiny); ③ It becomes brittle and brittle.
Remember that corroded parts must be replaced immediately!
